How Does Britain Leaving The EU Hurt It's Maritime Sector ?

Geo-political issues effect global economies.These economies directly effect trade which has a trickle - down effect into the logistics and supply chain industry. Here is yet another example of this reality.

We recently came across an article in  The Maritime Executive about implications to the UK's Shipping Industry if The United Kingdom votes to leave the European Union. The shipping sector could face years of disruption to trade agreements, increased custom duties, and other logistical challenges. The article also points out the sector employs over 250,000 employees directly. 

The root of this panic is caused by the anticipation that the EU will attempt to punish Britain in an effort to discourage other countries from leaving the EU. 

How do you think that this will effect the US ? How will it effect the global supply chain of many companies? How drastically will it effect the cost of transportation ?
